Recovering!

Thank you to everyone who has send me texts, emails, calls, facebooks of well wishes. The last 9 days have been a whirlwind. Literally. I blame the painkillers…but then again I stopped taking those days ago.  I have been probably doing more than I should, but lets face it. Recovery is boring.  Sitting at home watching the Young and Restless, Ellen and Dr. Phil was great for the first few days, but now I am itching to do things like clean and cook.  What is wrong with me? haha  Luckily, the meal train has been at my door everyday bringing us food! We are so grateful for everyone who has brought us yummy meals!!

I am at the studio tonight, just doing some organizing and trying to return all of my emails. I got my stitches out this morning and drains out on Monday. Hallelujah! After those things came out it was like night and day.  I still am not that mobile, and can’t move my arms anywhere near shoulder height. I also don’t think I am supposed to be driving because if the airbags went off…. ahh it hurts just thinking about it.  But I did, and it was hard.  So anyone who is going to be driving up 10th street in the next 30 minutes, beware!!;)

I wanted to share a few photos from surgery day. I asked my amazing friend Meg Spielman-Peldo to document a few of the moments for my journal. ( btw you NEED to check out her bra-anthologie to support breast cancer ) I can’t say that I remember much of the recovery room photos, except for when everyone was laughing at my blue urine. Yes Im sorry if thats gross, but my amazing Drs. Kay and Ahmen Abdullah injected me with radio active dye before my surgery ( ouch it hurt ) and it was making its exit!

I have a long road ahead of me. I will have reconstruction probably towards the end of the summer. In the mean time, I will have bi-weekly appointments to keep track of my progress.

If you are wondering anything about my surgery or why I had it done, I am so very open to talking about it! I think the more people I tell, the more lives can be saved from ignoring the unknown.

Thanks for hanging in there with me!

-Samantha

remember that blue dye??
Thanks for itching my forehead, Mom!

Ice Chips! When youre not allowed to drink or eat.. they are a delicacy!

I can only imagine what that text said, I definitely don’t remember this.

ahhhhhh good old back scratch!
My friend Braizee sent me these amazing cupcakes from Angel Cups.  Ah-mazing!! Thanks B!!
My beautiful battle wounds. My scar on my stomach is from my surgery this summer.
Going home… texting none the less

I hope to be back to work fully, very soon! Right now I can’t even hold my camera my arms are a bit weak! Soon my friends… soon!

I think sharing your story in the thought if it could save other lives is very commendable. How you have been able to come through these past months and with the positive attitude you have displayed…remarkable.
